Tuggstar for President is a bold new play about a community in crisis and a new black power movement seeking freedom from a corrupt political system.
Present day UK: Exclusions from schools are up. Gangs grow unabated. The media portrays black males as failures. The detached political elite can't fix Broken Britain. A destroyed community begins to organise around a young black man from East London with a vision for a new society.
Tuggstar for President is brought to you by the renowned poetry collective Best Kept Secret (Tuggstar, Amen Noir, Oneness and Shaka Ra).
Their unique brand of spoken word theatre continues to rise on the back of their original concepts. The cast also features, Floetic Lara, Mosaique and Mark Anderson and Teddi Wlnt - some of London's finest poets.
After years performing on the international spoken word scene, this is their most ambitious show yet, blurring the line between fiction and reality in a post-Obama world.
