The HOT L Baltimore

THE HOT L BALTIMORE by Lanford Wilson

Winner of the 1973 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best American Play and the Obie Award for Best Play.

A day in the lobby of the once grand, now decaying, Hotel Baltimore. The hotel is so past its prime that the 'e' from its sign has long since been lost, and it is now scheduled for demolition. America's lonely & dispossessed, its 'flotsam & jetsam', gather to lament their fading hopes and dreams and the country's crumbling infrastructure. This bittersweet comedy was so successful and popular when it opened that the original production ran for over 3 years, clocking up 1,166 performance. It remains a heartfelt tribute to those who survive on the fringes of modern society.
